Massacre at Peshawar Mosque; 57 Martyred along with 194 Injured

Peshawar: On the 4th of March, a suicide-bomb blast took place in a mosque during the Jummah Prayer. The location of the mosque was in the heart of Koocha Risaldar in the area of Qissa Khwani Bazaar.




According to reports, the suicide bomber shot two policemen who were at the gate of the Imamia mosque for security purposes and forced his entry towards the premises of the mosque.

One of the policemen was martyred whose name was Jamil and the other one (Farman) was injured by the gunshots. After that, the attacker got himself close to the Imam and blew himself along with 57 other people. According to the official, 4-5 kg of explosives were used with bearings. In this crisis, 194 people were injured and 57 died on the spot.

At the start of the investigation, it was considered that this was the task of two people but later on when the CCTV footage was discovered, there was only one attacker who was wearing black clothes. He opened gunfire on the policemen and after that entered the mosque.

One of the witnesses told that after the dust from the blast settled down, a large number of wounded were seen all over the place. It was the time for Friday Prayer, therefore there was a large number of people present at the same time.

In the videos that were recorded after the blast, we can clearly see that many wounded were lying down in the pools of blood waiting for help from 1122, EDHI, and other organizations.

An emergency was issued at the nearest hospital and doctors were also called to treat the seriously wounded, a large number of people also came to donate blood for the people who lost a large amount of blood. The police were put on high alert and security in all parts of the province was elevated.

A statement from Agha Moosavi was taken, they were not going to bow to the cowards who target Holy Places such as Mosques and Imambargahs and seek redemption by spilling the blood of the innocent.

President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan also strictly condemned the explosion at the mosque and extended condolences towards the families of the deceased.
