Deaths Count by COVID-19 Rises in Pakistan After Days of Rest

Islamabad: The daily death toll of COVID-19 rose again after many days of decline as 42 people failed to resist the deadly virus and died in a single day, reported by the National Command and Operations Centre on Wednesday.

The deaths remained under 40 per day for the last 4-5 days. As per today's statistics, this addition made the country's total number of reported COVID-19 deaths around 30,095.

According to the COVID-19 department, 41,770 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, from which 1.232 were COVID-19 positive. These numbers increased the country's positivity ratio to 2.95% with the case count to approx. 1,503,873.

Overnight, 3,154 made recovery and pushed down the active case count to 64,262.

COVID-19 restrictions were lifted from 3 cities

After witnessing the decreasing trend of COVID, the restrictions were relaxed by the department, irrespective of the positivity percentage of the city.

The forum also encouraged the removal of Karachi, Hyderabad, and Peshawar from the list of restricted cities.

Last week, the cities which had a positivity ratio of more than 10% were put under restrictions and are still in the same place.

The cities with a 10% positivity ratio are Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, and Mardan.
