Arooj Aftab: The First Pakistani to Appear on Times Square

Two times Grammy nominee, Pakistani-American singer Arooj Aftab is featured on a Times Square billboard as a Spotify 'EQUAL Pakistan' Ambassador.



Arooj, with her singing skills, is the global representation of female Pakistani creators. Spotify, The most famous streaming service is providing a platform for empowering female creators to share their work with the world.

The Mohabbat singer was featured on a digital billboard in New York as 'EQUAL Artist of the month' for a global campaign.

Arooj said, "I am extremely excited to be the first Ambassador of EQUAL Pakistan because this kind of well-structured program will help uplift women in the audio industry of Pakistan."

She is the first Pakistani singer to be nominated for Grammy in Best New Artist and Best Global category.

She met with the Sufi legend Abida Parveen during a concert in Pakistan and sang 'Man Kunto Maula'.

She believes that Pakistanis are never without some sort of art like music or poetry, it is in their culture.

Arooj is also the first Pakistani to perform with Harry Styles, Lil Baby, Billie Eilish, Megan Three Stallion, Disclosure, Savage, Stromae, and many others, at an American music festival Coachella.

Her song 'Mohabbat' is also mentioned among the songs of great artists like Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, and Rihanna.
