Ban on Afghan Women of Flying Alone

KABUL: Afghani airlines are ordered by the Taliban to stop Afghani women from flying without a 'Mahram'. This ban was implemented along with the latest hit on basic human rights since the new rulers came into power.

The new government has imposed many restrictions on women and girls, including local television channels to stop broadcasting BBC news.

Despite promising to impose a softer version of the rules. The restrictions are slowly but gradually coming back to their previous state. Women are being completely shut out from the public and also from the education centers.

The women and men are not allowed to visit parks on the same day. Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays are for women while the rest of the days are for men.

Taliban took the decision on Thursday and the two airlines and Kabul airport immigration authorities told AFP, "No women are allowed to fly on any domestic or international flights without a male relative."
