Can TikTok Challenge YouTube in the Lengthy Video Segment?
Last month, TikTok tried to challenge YouTube with an update regarding the maximum video length. The video length was increased to a max. of 10 minutes. In the beginning, the video length was 1 minute, and then a year later, it was increased to 3 minutes and now we have a round number of 10 minutes.
10 is not just a random number. According to a 2018 study by Statistia, an average YouTube video length is around 11.7 minutes. Google recommends placing the length of a video around 8-15 minutes, thus making 10 a golden number.

That said, we can clearly see that TikTok is trying to take a bite out of the YouTube fanbase plus the revenue. Are these efforts worth it? If we see the January 2020 report, more than 1 billion users were on TikTok, but as of January 2022, YouTube has more than 2 billion users.
If we talk about the dough, according to a global media report, YouTube made $19.2 billion of revenue last year, while TikTok was at $2.3 billion in user spending.
These numbers show that TikTok is very much far behind YouTube but it has been the fastest growing social media platform for the last couple of years. If the future is in the hands of the young and savvy ones then we can see that TikTok may take the lead.
