Solar Flare Expected to Hit Earth on Monday
A solar storm occurs when clouds of the magnetic field of the Sun interact with the magnetic field of Earth. A similar event is expected to occur on Sunday.
But the storm will be relatively weak on Monday than others.
It May Cause GPS Disturbances
It is completely normal for the Sun to undergo such events including the emission of flames into space. According to the experts, such events are more like to happen simultaneously in the future, including disturbing our upper atmosphere and magnetic fields.
The flare is harmless for living things but can affect satellites. Around 40 of the 49 Starlink satellites were destroyed by it in early February, these satellites were part of Elon Musk's SpaceX project.
This phenomenon is a completely normal process for the Sun which emits plasma and magnetic fields into space, which can cause orientation problems for satellites thus causing issues with the high-frequency radio waves. This can cause a fault in the working of GPS.
Although, the flare can also make it easier for us to see Northern lights or Aurora Borealis, by the people in Northern Hemisphere.
The Sun is recently more active, by emitting radiations regularly.
This is due to the fact that the Sun is constantly moving through periods of activity to dead calm. These work cycles last for around 11 years. The Sun is in the active period right now.
